Each vase is personalized with the couple's first names and the date of the wedding. First, the vase is hand thrown on the wheel and the names are etched into the clay. Later, when the clay is at the perfect consistency, the names and date are painstakingly hand carved out of the clay. You can get around this by using just numbers for the date e.g. Angelica & Vincenzo 12.31.20 will be 8 characters less (I don't count spaces, periods or commas as characters - only letters & the ampersand). I use a lightly specked ivory satin glaze. Satin is somewhere between glossy and matte. I do not slip cast my vases, each one is individually hand thrown on the wheel and hand carved by me. They are kiln fired to over 2,200 degrees for durability. These are stoneware vases, NOT earthenware which tends to be more prone to chipping.
